Catherine Mckenna's Annual Ottawa Centre Park Party!

Updated: Aug 21, 2018

On Sunday, August 12th, Catherine Mckenna hosted her Annual Ottawa Centre Park Party at Parkdale Park.

Catherine Mckenna with Daybreak's Robert and Jacquie.

Our honourable MP knows that strong communities are healthy communities and likes to take time for neighbours and families to get out under the sun, for fun, a BBQ, and a chance to celebrate summer. It couldn’t have been a more beautiful day in Parkdale Park that Sunday, sunny and breezy, and not humid! There was a great turnout from our diverse neighbourhood as well as visitors who’d come a long way to be a part of the cheer including a lot of children!  There was live music on a centre stage, and a wonderful youth marching band that gave a stirring performance before many a proud parent. The event brought together members of parliament, community organizations, event partners, volunteers, and people of all ages!

Daybreak was proud to be a part of the event as, participating as one link in the festive concourse that circled the park, like a mini-carnival.  Our information booth doubled as an art station for curious children to make a few masterpieces. We were able to have staff and a resident on hand to answer questions and let people know who we and our residents and that we are also part of what makes our dense city core great.  Our own case manager, Jacquie, was thrilled to meet with Catherine McKenna who was quite interested in what we’re all about.

Along with Daybreak, many other local organizations attended the event including Parkdale Food Centre, Pedalheads, EnviroCentre, Dovercourt Recreation Centre, and many more. The event was a great way for these organizations to inform the community on the efforts their doing to make #Ottawa an even better city.

Special Thanks

Daybreak relies on having good friends and innovative relationships to build the best homes we can for our residents and find programming that meets their needs and brings richness into their lives. As Daybreak grows in the community we will be able to find new pathways and novel opportunities for our residents to rebuild their lives. Hopefully along the way we can meet new donors who want to be apart of transforming lives with hope.

Daybreak would like to thank our member of parliament Catherine Mckenna, for hosting this event and for supporting local non profit organizations. We hope to see everyone and next year’s Annual Ottawa Centre Park Party!
